The LBI real estate market has a number of different locations and price points. Long Beach Island was first discovered by Dutch explorers during the 1600's. Two lighthouses were constructed on the northern end of LBI to aid in shipping along the East coast of the United States and it was from this that the first few settlements began to appear along the barren coastline. Since then, the area has become a landmark destination for summer fun and vacation memories. Today, Long Beach Island, or "LBI" as it is known, centers on the tourism industry with the majority of its income coming from the summer vacation industry. LBI is home to many summer vacationers who either own or rent on Long Beach Island to take advantage of the white sandy beaches, family environment and local attractions. Barnegat Light is the north most town on Long Beach Island. It is a quiet area with large lots.
Harvey Cedars is home to the most commercial development on the "North End" of LBI and is an upscale community of shore homes.
Surf City is a popular area of LBI and one of the widest parts of Long Beach Island. There is a healthy mix of stores, restaurants and residential summer homes.
Ship Bottom is the gateway to LBI and one of the more crowded areas. It is home to the Barnegat Bay bridge and offers easy on and off access to Long Beach Island.
